Job Description:
A postdoctoral research position is available immediately for a highly motivated candidate to help develop innovative gene expression approaches for radiation biological dosimetry. The project is part of the Centers for Medical Countermeasures against Radiation, a national initiative to increase preparedness for the possibiliy of a radiological or nuclear incident. Biodosimetry would be critical in such an event, to enable radiological triage and assignment of exposed people to appropriate treatment. As part of this project, we are investigating the effects of different radiation modalities (dose, dose-rate, LET, organ-specific effects) on gene expression, and developing gene signatures for the prediction of late effects. The mechanisms involved have relevance to fields from radiation protection to radiotherapy.

The position is in the Center for High-throughput Minimally-invasive Radiation Biodosimetry (, and offers opportunities for both collaboration and development of independent studies. Our laboratory is part of the Center for Radiological Research ( in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Columbia University. Some of the research may involve use of our Radiation Research Accelerator Facility (
