The candidate will work closely with wet lab scientists and computational scientists in West Sacramento, CA and other scientists throughout BCS.
The Head of Computational Life Sciences Biologics (CLS BLX) will lead a team of scientists who perform various omics based analyses, work with wet lab scientists in the design of experiments, integrate wet lab and in silico data to increase predictability of outcome and manage complex sets of data to facilitate downstream analysis by CLS and non-CLS scientists. The Head develops strategic decisions regarding the management and analysis of disparate data, guides and nurtures CLS members to grow professionally, and collaborates with other members of BLX Scientific Leadership Team (BSLT) to execute BLX R&D objectives that are in-line with global BCS objectives. The Head is also a member of the CLS Leadership Team (CLS LT) to communicate the needs and the objectives of BLX at the global CLS level, strategize and promote CLS goals across BCS, and provide quality leadership to all CLS members. The jobholder will become a member of global committees, such as Development IT Governance Committee (DIT-GC) and Research IT Governance Committee (RIT-GC), to communicate and represent BLX IT needs to secure funding and to identify synergy across BCS R&D functions. The Head manages a team of informatics professionals to ensure that laboratory IT equipment and LIMS applications are running optimally to maintain lab efficiency and data interoperability with other BCS LIMS. To be successful on these objectives, he/she must be knowledgeable and current in various scientific and technical disciplines especially in data management and analysis, understand the science and business of BLX and other BCS functions, and successfully collaborate with other BCS scientists in various discipline and 3rd party experts.
